Immanuvel Devendrar (also called Immanuvel sekaran) was a freedom fighter and a social reformer. He also worked in the Indian army as 'Havaldar major'. He belongs to Devendra kula vellalar caste. He was murdered on 11 september 1957. His postal stamp was released by the government of India in 2010. His death anniversary day ismmanuvel devendrar was born on 9th october 1924 to Mr.Vedhanayagam (School Teacher and founder of Devendra kula vellalar sangam,Mudukulathur) and Mrs.Gnanasoundhari Ammal in a village of Sellur, which is located in Mudukulathur Taluk in Ramanathapuram district,Tamil Nadu . He has four childrens namely E.Mary Vasantha rani,E.papin vijaya rani,E sundari prabha rani, E.Jansi rani. Immanuvel sekaran knew 7 languages including Russian languageAt the age of 18 Immanuvel devendrar participated in the Quit India movement and he was imprisoned for three months by the British GovernmentIn 1945 he joined the Indian army as 'Havaldar major'. He worked in the Indian army until he returned to Paramakudi to become a youth congress leader.He worked hard for the upliftment of the Scheduled caste people in Tamilnadu. During his work as a social reformer he was murdered following the 1957 riots attended by millions of people in Tamilnadu every year
